February 17 on 17

This week a dear friend of mine moved back to South Korea after living in Australia for a year. She was a faithful sower into the community I am a part of and was sent here (like I was) to help start a church. Before it was time for her to head back home (aka before her visa expired) there were a few things she had to do. And one very important mission was a road trip along the Great Ocean Road.

It feels like it was forever ago, but it’s actually been less than a month since I took a road trip to the Twelve Apostles for the 3rd time. And this is my 17 on 17.

Time to meet the crew.

For some familiarity, I started with me… thanks to Minho for catching this shot by the Erskine Falls in Lorne.

Another great shot by Minho (I know, you aren’t used to seeing pictures of me in my posts, how exciting is this?!).

January 17 on 17

It’s my year! Instead of doing my beloved 10 on 10, I have decided to post 17 photos on the 17th. Now, does sev-en-teen on sev-en-teen flow as well as ten on ten? No. So, why would I do something that doesn’t sound as nice? Well, I am glad you asked.

My favorite number is 17. Is this because my birthday falls on the 17th day of the month of May? Yes. Entirely so. I love the number 17! And this year is 2017! And I was terrible at remembering to post on the 10th and narrowing my photos down to 10… so this year, you get 17. I am hoping I am better at posting each month.

I started January off with lazy days and fun days, days full of exploring, and days full of soaking up the sun. It’s my summer holiday after all. I am glad I chose to spend this time around my new home, it’s been nice to get to know the Melbourne area better…

Any photo of me, that is not a selfie, was taken by Judy (thanks, boo).

dsc07956I was ready to quit before we even started going up the 1,000 steps… getting to the base was my workout for the week.dsc07963But I did it! (At the top of 1,000 Steps.)dsc07968Climbed up with these clowns.dsc07972Took a different scenic route on the way down.dsc07975It’s fun doing life with them.DCIM100GOPROGOPR0288.Me and some of the girls took a road trip down to Mornington Peninsula, this is our obligatory selfie (gopro) at Rosebud Beach. I am in love with the above black and white sequence shots of Judy, taken at a fancy restaurant that I had a coupon to, and even though I knew it was fancy I still chose to wear jeans. Sometimes I live dangerously…

There you have it, my first 17 on 17. Let’s see how well I keep this up in 2017!

10 on 10- October

October is the month of visitors and I could not be more pleased! I lived in South Korea for 7 years and barely got my parents to visit (BUT THEY DID). I have lived in Melbourne for 3 months and I already have a list of people coming to see me. All about location, I see.

It was hard to narrow this down to 10, but here are some of my favs from when my dear friend Lydia and her husband DJ came to visit from Sydney last weekend. They took me on a whirlwind tour of eating delicious food (these photos show the brief stops we made in between eating, haha). I was so blessed by how well DJ did his research and his decisiveness in ordering food.

I am slowly falling in love with this city.

I am also super proud of myself for posting these photos ON THE 10TH.

10 on 10- September

I should just start calling this 11 on 11th. Only I have 10 photos so it’s going to stay 10. I will, I will try very hard to post this on the correct date of the month in October. I can do it— fighting!

Yesterday, on the 10th I went to the South Melbourne Market, a mer 15 minute walk from my apartment,¬†to shop for my housewarming party. Heeeeyo. I decided to grab my camera, something I haven’t done in a while, and snapped shots of one of my favorite places in Melbourne.

10 on 10- May

How does this happen every other month? The 10th goes by and I think, “Hey, it’s the 10th!” and yet I don’t remember to post my 10 photos… and this month the date was especially¬†noticed because one of my longest, dearest friend celebrates her birthday on May 10 (Happy Birthday April!).

In my defense, it is still the 10th in ‘Merrrica.

My 10 photos were taken in the middle of April on a day when the blossoms were in their last hurrah. This is my final Cherry Blossom season in Korea and I had to make the most of it. One of my roommates, Alyssa, came along and joined me for my mini photo shoot near the Yangjae Flower Market (a week before I saw the line of trees from the window of a taxi and had to go back!).

And because I love bonus pictures here is just one more. This is a picture of my students taking minutes to rip up the tape that took me hours to place around the room. Our map and transportation units are officially oooooover.

Happy May everyone! It is the best month, after all.

Jason & Dyanne: Engagement Anniversary Shoot

DSC_7622Last year in the middle of April, Jason and Dyanne took advantage of the Cherry Blossoms blooming and headed to Yeouido with me to take engagement photos. Now, I know it’s not typical to have another photo shoot¬†on the anniversary of your engagement photo shoot— but when you have a great dress and suit and another year of Cherry Blossoms, I figure why not? Jason and Dyanne got married last July near Boston, Massachusetts, but it was fun walking around Seoul and hearing, “Congratulations!” “You look beautiful!” “What a great place for a wedding!”

It was my first time at Gyeongbokgung Palace so at one point Dyanne was squatting in her wedding dress taking photos of me (hehe). I love this couple and I am so blessed to be able to share these memories with them. Here is a little taste of our day.

You may be thinking to yourself, I thought Seoul had a population of over 10 million people, how did she take most of those shots with no one in them? I am glad you asked. I am just that good, my friends.

DSC_8340

I leave you with this last shot, but it’s mostly for me. There is something about this picture that I love. The unposedness (made that word up) of it? Dyanne fixing her flowers? I could not tell you. I just feel Dyanne’s calming presence through this picture. And I love it.

Happy Engagement Photo Shoot anniversary Jason and Dyanne!

10 on 10- April

The closer June comes, the more I start to think about all the places I went to but didn’t snap enough pictures (I know right, me? Not take pictures? It happens…). This months 10 on 10 is a little bit of this and a little bit of that, half of the pictures other people took for me, so my face is actually in this monthly post much more than usual.

For starters, my friend Allison made deep fried deviled eggs. They had to be photographed.

DSC_7137

Can someone say delicious? Okay, I will. DELICIOUS! After eating that yumminess I also celebrated¬†my girl, Michelle’s, 30th BIRTHDAY! She blogs over at Gold Dust & Glitter, check her out.

DSC_7274DSC_7239

I finally got the change to go to Yangjae Flower Market (at 7:30 in the morning on a Saturday— not for the faint of heart my friend). After that¬†I checked out cherry blossoms (and did a photo shoot that you will hear ALL ABOUT later) and went to a palace. This all happened yesterday on April 9th, so these pictures just make the cut (phew).

Super proud of myself for remembering to post these on the 10th. Anyone want to give me a pat on the back? Fine. I will do it myself.
